Friends, Family and Pizza – Pizzeria Libretto

Pizzeria Libretto is a great place to hang out with a group of friends or family when you want to eat great pizza. The atmosphere is fun, full of energy and loud. The music combined with overlapping conversations gives the place a charming vibe, something that reminds me of a large family dinner at home.
There were two things that immediately caught our attention. First of all, there was this:
Then, there was the open kitchen, where you could see your food getting ready. We got a table very close to that so we can observe what happens in Libretto's kitchen.
Service was excellent and very prompt, although the place was fairly busy (lunch hour). The staff was very knowledgeable and gave us a quick description of each pizza and then recommended us Thursday’s special. We got that and Prosciutto Ontario. Yes. We got two. Don’t judge us. It’s for research purposes. Don’t worry. We will also open Fitness Gems after Pizza Gems. Thursday’s special was a super juicy although it was soft and moist in the middle, so it was a direct invitation for you to drop that fork and knife, grab it with your hands, fold it and eat it. Just like home. It had a really nice kick from the spicy homemade sauce, which we loved. We were really impressed with how incredibly puffy the dough was. That, the sauce and the sausages on top gave me a very homey feeling, the same I get when I eat something homemade, fresh from the oven.
The second pizza had the same kind of puffy, soft and light dough. On top, it had something that Andrea kept describing as “tomato jam”. It was very sweet, fresh and full of flavour. And on top there was, of course, the prosciutto. Even though this might seem a very simple combination of ingredients, it had a very powerful taste. What we liked the most was the combination of textures: The puffiness of the dough, the juiciness of the tomato sauce and that fresh bite of prosciutto. Yum.
Thursday’s special was my favourite and Prosciutto Ontario was Andrea’s favourite. If you’re looking for a place to bring a large, noisy group of people, Pizzeria Libretto is it. It will definitely infuse you with good mood and positive energy. Just like a huge family dinner.

Best Pizza in Toronto - Pizzeria Defina Review

If you live in Toronto and you've been looking to try out some of the best pizzerias in town, here is our suggestion. Pizzeria Defina is great for a Friday evening date. The first thing that impressed me right after entering the restaurant was its cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with a view over the wood-fired pizza oven.
The lights were dim, but not too dim, and the music was just at the right volume. The little candles on the table gave everything a very intimate touch. Service was flawless from start to finish, which is something pretty hard to find in Toronto nowadays. The variety in the menu was great and it took us a while to figure out what we want but we eventually went with Defina Sausage. And we did not regret it at all.
This will be difficult to describe…but let me give it a shot. Every bite had a different taste and it surprised me every time. I don’t want to make this sound too cheesy but all of the ingredients were working together in a perfect harmony. Oh… and by the way… speaking of cheese. That gorgonzola cheese rocked my world. It was that thing that brought all of the other ingredients together and blended them perfectly, making it the best combination. Now… let me share a little fun fact with you guys. I NEVER eat the crust. Yes. I am THAT person. The crust for me is a simple handle from which you hold the pizza and then you dispose of it when you are done. I’ll just say that I ate the crust this time. And it was beautiful.
All in all, I was really impressed with Pizzeria Defina. I know that restaurants in Toronto are facing huge competition, that's why I think that their main advantage lays in that wood-fired oven which gives the pizza an authentic taste and really makes it the best. Next time, I will definitely go back with my date there. They have an amazing variety of wines that I want to try.

About Me - Irina

Hi. I’m Irina.

I study Marketing at Humber College. When I’m not working on projects, writing essays, running late to classes or any other… wonderful academic activities, you will most probably find me cooking, walking my dog in the park or hanging out with my friends at the movies.

But let’s rewind a little bit to the cooking part…

For me, food is one of the biggest joys. I think that food isn't just about taste, it’s an experience; from the way it looks, smells, feels, tastes, to the ambiance in which it is served and by whom it is served. Maybe that is why I could never keep a diet for more than a day in my life.
What makes me even happier than food is cooking itself. There’s just something so special about building an entire meal from scratch and then being able to share it with someone and make their whole day better.

So…since I can’t share with you those cupcakes I just made, I’ll share with you my opinion – my honest opinion on all of the places that I will try out, either good or bad.

I hope you will enjoy this blog as much as Andrea & I will enjoy discovering hidden gems in Toronto’s pizzerias. J

All the best,

-Irina

About Me - Andrea

Hi Everyone,
I am just going to make this short & sweet.
I am a 23 year old advertisement manager in Toronto, and I have done so for a couple of years now. However, when the opportunity to become a pizza blogger arrives, one MUST NEVER say No to such proposition; so here I embark in a quest, with my lovely best friend Irina, to discover the best pizzerias in this huge city. I will also attempt to create my own dishes at home and I will publish my best efforts.  (I apologize in advance, as I anticipate disaster).
A little bit more insight about me: I am the oldest of 3 siblings and I come from the beautiful and romantic country of Colombia. I love fireworks, films, poetry and cheesy reality TV shows (Do not Judge me).
Alright, I hope you will enjoy this journey with me and wish us good luck,
All Best,
-Andrea
